Plain answers.

How NewLeaf works, what happens to your CV, and what to do when something goes wrong. If your question is not here, email dath.analyst@gmail.com.

Getting started

How does NewLeaf work?

You upload your CV once and confirm the facts we read from it. Then you paste a job description, or a link to one. NewLeaf checks how well you fit the job before it writes anything, then builds a one-page CV from your confirmed facts. If you want them, it also writes a cover letter and a short hiring-team message.

You download the files and send them yourself. Each application can be kept in the tracker, from applied to offer.

What do I get for free?

One free CV, with no card. That is a CV tailored to one job description, as a one-page PDF and Word file. Your free CV is used only when a CV is finished. A CV that fails does not use it, and neither does one that comes out short for a full page (we say so on the CV), up to 2 times. After that, a short CV uses it.

Also free: the CV Check, which scores your CV out of 100 against UK graduate conventions and explains each finding, and Strengthen, which helps you rewrite a few of your own lines using answers you give. Nothing changes on your CV until you accept it.

To make more CVs you need the 30-day pass. See pricing.

Who is NewLeaf for?

It is built for graduates applying for jobs and schemes in the UK, and its checks follow UK CV conventions: no photo, no date of birth, UK spelling, a month on every date.

How is my CV score worked out?

The CV Check scores your CV out of 100, and it is strict on purpose. Every problem it finds takes points off, and the reason is shown with it. A few serious problems (something that blocks the CV, a spelling slip, no measured result anywhere, most of the strengths below missing) also hold the score under a limit until you fix them, so the number tells you what is holding it back.

It marks what it can count on your CV: UK conventions, evidence, dates, polish, honesty, and whether an applicant tracking system can read it. It also looks for five strengths employers screen for (analysis, communication, leadership, teamwork and initiative) and asks you a question where your CV does not show one. It never adds anything to your CV by itself, and it does not predict interviews.

Your CV and your data

What happens to my CV and my data?

Your CV, the facts you confirm and everything we make for you are stored in your account, and only you can see them. To read your CV and tailor it, we send the text to AI model providers under paid terms that do not let them train on it. We log which model was used and what the call cost, never the text itself.

We do not sell your data, we do not send marketing email, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The privacy notice lists exactly what we hold, who processes it and how long we keep it.

Will NewLeaf make things up about me?

No. Employers, job titles, dates, degrees, grades and links are never changed. Only the wording is. Every claim and number on a CV has to trace back to a fact you confirmed, and that is checked by code, not left to the AI. If a draft fails the checks, it is repaired or thrown away, and you are not charged for it.

If a job asks for something your CV does not show, NewLeaf will not claim it for you. It may ask you a short question instead.

Does NewLeaf apply for me?

No. NewLeaf never submits anything to an employer, recruiter or job board, and never fills in or clicks anything on an application portal for you. "Open application page" opens the employer's own site, and you finish the application yourself.

Which files can I upload, and how big can they be?

PDF or Word (.docx), up to 5 MB and 10 pages. Other formats, such as .doc, Pages or a photo of a CV, are not accepted. A password-protected PDF needs its password removed first.

A scanned CV, where the page is a picture with no real text in it, cannot be read, because we do not run text recognition on it. You can enter your details by hand instead.

How do I export my data or delete my account?

Both are in Settings, under Account. "Export my data" builds a download of your data: your CVs, documents, tracker, evidence bank and payment records. "Delete my account" switches your access off straight away and then deletes your data. To protect you, deleting needs a sign-in from the last ten minutes, and it asks you to sign in again if yours is older.

The privacy notice has the timings and the two narrow exceptions, such as the payment records Stripe keeps for its own legal reasons.

Paying, and getting your money back

Is it a subscription?

No. The pass is £19 once, for 30 days. It does not renew, and we never charge your card again unless you buy another pass. There is a fair-use limit of 20 CVs a day. When the pass ends, everything you made stays available; only new CVs stop. Details are on the pricing page.

How do I get a refund?

Email dath.analyst@gmail.com from the address on your account, with the date you paid. Cancelling within 14 days refunds the unused days; a proportionate amount for days already provided may be deducted. Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe.

The exact wording is in the terms.

When something goes wrong

Why is my CV short, or why did it fail?

A CV is one page, and NewLeaf will not pad it. If there is not much on your CV, the page comes out short, and we say so: "This CV is short for a full page". If there is almost nothing on it, it does not finish, and you see "There is not enough on your CV to fill a page". We never shrink the text, repeat lines or invent achievements to make it fit. On the free plan, a short CV does not use your free CV the first 2 times it happens, so you can add more and try again.

The fix is the same each time. Add a role, a project or more detail on Your CV, then write it again. Strengthen can help you turn a plain line into one with a result.

Other reasons a CV can fail are a job description that could not be read (paste the whole text rather than a fragment) and a temporary problem on our side. A CV that does not finish never uses your free CV or counts towards your daily limit, and you are not charged for it.

How do I contact you?

Email dath.analyst@gmail.com. NewLeaf is run by Dimitrios Athinaios trading as NewLeaf. Please write from the email address on your account and say what you were doing, so we can find it.
